Dr. Myra Haney Singleton

Myra Haney Singleton is the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Student Wellness in the College of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina-Columbia, a Master of Education degree with a concentration in Counselor Education from The Citadel, and a Doctor of Education degree from Walden University. Upon completion of her Master’s degree, Myra assumed several leadership responsibilities in the College of Medicine Dean’s Office. Myra has worked in higher education for over twenty years. Her professional areas of expertise are counseling and guidance for academic progress and student retention. In her role as Associate Dean, she facilitated the expansion of services for the Group on Student Affairs to enhance the medical education experience. She also has oversight of a wide range of academic support systems, retention initiatives, and the implementation of institutional policies.
As an engaged collaborator in the admissions process and recruitment efforts, Myra was actively involved in the creation and implementation of many College of Medicine pipeline programs and served as the director of two recruitment programs. She is well-recognized for her contributions to the development of the nationally recognized College of Medicine recruitment and retention programs. Throughout her tenure at MUSC, Myra has worked diligently to support key strategic initiatives of the College of Medicine Group on Educational Affairs and the Group on Diversity Affairs. Her scholarly work and presentations focus on issues related to student affairs and diversity and inclusion.
Myra is an active member of the MUSC community and serves on several committees at the university and college levels. She is also the recipient of numerous awards and honors. Myra thoroughly enjoys serving in the areas of advocacy and retention to ensure student academic success.
